Alimony under Christian law.

Section 36 of the Indian Divorce Act, 1969 administers the provision of alimony for Christians in India. Under Section 36, a lady can guarantee her entitlement to alimony and the spouse will be qualified to pay the alimony, whenever coordinated by the Court.

According to Section 36 of the Indian Divorce Act, 1969 :

  • In any suit under this Act, regardless of whether it be established by a husband or a wife, and whether she has acquired a request for assurance the wife may show an appeal for costs of the procedures and alimony pending the suit.
  • Such a petition will be served on the husband; and the Court, on being happy with the reality of the announcements in that contained, may make such request on the husband for installment to the wife of the costs of the procedures and alimony pending the suit as it might esteem just.
  • Given further that the request to the costs of the procedures and alimony pending the suit, will, quite far, be discarded inside sixty days of administration of such appeal on the spouse.
